On 7 December 2022, the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations concluded. Angie Motshekga, the Minister of Basic Education, announced the outcome of the exams on 19 January 2023.
NSC results were released to learners on 20 January 2023. However, some learners may not have received their results due to technical difficulties.
Candidates who write the NSC exam are encouraged to visit the school or centre where they wrote the exams to receive their results if they have not done so already. Learners may also visit the Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) website to view their results.
Learners need to ensure that their names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before 21 February 2023. Learners have 30 days after the release of their results to submit their result queries for investigation.
Registration for re-mark/re-check of examination script may be done at:
- The learner’s school
- The district office in their province, or
- Online.
Learners have until 3 February 2023 to submit their manual or online applications for the re-mark/re-check of exam scripts. Manual applications may be found at schools or the district office in the province.
Online registration may be done at the South African e-Services Portal. Learners will find all the instructions for registering on the reverse side of the Statement of Results.
Learners will need to pay the following fees for re-marking and re-checking of scripts. Here are the fees per subject:
- Re-mark: R120
- Re-check: R29
Viewing of scripts may only be done after a re-mark or re-check of results. The closing date for viewing applications is 7 days after the release of re-marking or re-checking results. The fee for viewing is R234.
