The Tax Professional Occupational Qualifications (NQF 8)
Minimum Criteria:
- B Com Degree or equivalent with at least 2 Semesters of Tax with an average of 65%
- or Occupational Diploma: Tax Technician (NQF6)
- One year work experience

Tax Technician Occupational Qualification (NQF6)
Minimum Criteria:
- NQF 4
- Three years tax specific work experience
Description: Tax practitioners are individuals who complete SARS returns and handle basic objections on behalf of clients for a fee.
The 21st Century Tax Practitioners are equipped to communicate effectively and deliver out of the box thinking to add value to their clients.
In order to be registered with SARS as a tax practitioner, one has to complete a qualification at an NQF level 6 in taxation and needs to a member of a recognised professional body, such as SAIT.

The ideal route for this would be via the Tax Technician Occupational Certificate.
This qualification is at an NQF 6 and the Professional body responsible is The South African Institute of Tax (SAIT).
