You are about to learn how to Properly Apply to R350 Grant Using GovChat. SASSA has a mission to make submitting an R350 grant application as easy and accessible as possible.
Applications for the SRD grant are still open. More than 13 million people have applied for the relief grant with more than 8 million grants approved by SASSA. Over 3.7 million applications have been declined by SASSA.
SASSA opened R350 grant applications in early August for the second time around and this application period is set to remain open until March 2022.
One way to submit an SRD grant application is by using GovChat. Here’s how:
- Go to the GovChat website
- Enter your phone number
- Complete the Captcha
- Click ‘LOGIN’
- Click on ‘SASSA Services’
- Click on ‘SASSA Grants’
- Click on ‘Apply for a grant’
- Click on ‘Social relief of distress (R350)’
- Click on ‘Create New Form’
- Fill in the required information
- Click on ‘SUBMIT PERSONAL DETAILS’
- You will then be given a reference number
All applicants will need to sign a declaration and consent form, as SASSA will be working with other institutions to verify details provided by applicants.
You will then need to do a SASSA grant status check to track your R350 grant application. Click here to learn how to do this.
You will receive payment once your application has been approved. You will then not have to submit an application every month if SASSA approved your R350 grant application as SASSA verifies if you still qualify every month.
If SASSA rejects your SRD grant application and you believe they did so unfairly, you can submit an SRD grant appeal. Click here to find out how.
The appeal has to be lodged on the website within 30 days of when your rejection status became available to you.
