The time to register as a Unisa student is quickly running out. However, you can still do your best to meet the deadline and register for the first semester of 2023.
Many students will be scrambling to complete their registration for the upcoming tertiary education academic year, which is expected to begin in the middle of 2023.
If you’re a prospective student who has accepted the offer for a place to study at the University of South Africa (Unisa), then now is the time for you to register.
Unisa recently extended its semester one registration period for first-time entering students, as well as returning students for specific undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
The new closing date for first semester registration for Undergraduate qualifications, Honours Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas has been extended to 10 February 2023. The initial payment date remains 28 February 2023.
Please be reminded, that students can only register at Unisa and another university at the same time if the qualification a student registers for at Unisa is for non-degree purposes, and if the student has written permission from the other university allowing concurrent registration.

The written permission must be submitted at the time of application and registration.
Every institution has their own registration period that students should adhere to, however, sometimes the university or college will extend the registration to accommodate late registrations or those who were having issues registering as smoothly as possible.
The University of South Africa is the largest university system in South Africa by enrollment. It attracts a third of all higher education students in South Africa.
The institution makes use of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) which allows students to pursue their degrees, diplomas and certificates by using online resources and study materials provided by Unisa themselves.
