- According to the recent announcement by Sassa, there will be no more R350 Grant payment dates each month.
- Sassa R350 grant beneficiaries who expect to collect their next grant payment from the post office must consider another available alternative option.
Here is why the collection dates from the post office will no longer be made available to beneficiaries.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will no longer publish grant payment dates for R350 recipients.
This is primarily due to the recent announcement by Sassa that they have stopped processing R350 grant payments through the Post Office.
Sassa indicated that the variety of retail establishments that were already available before this application round is the only available alternative payment collect option for R350 grant beneficiaries when they apply.
“The application app now includes an option where beneficiaries can receive their grant from any Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or USave merchant. The SA Post Office strongly advises beneficiaries to include this option: Post Office branches will no longer pay out SRD grants.”
Additionally, beneficiaries who have already reapplied for their R350 grant can opt to collect it at any Pick & Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or USave store.
Beneficiaries of the R350 grant have also been urged to visit Sassa’s SRD grant website at srd.sassa.gov.za and respond to the security SMS that will be sent to their phone. Following that, grant recipients can update and resubmit their applications to include shops.
Furthermore, Social Relief of Distress (SRD) recipients are also advised to have a registered phone number to withdraw their grant from supermarkets. If they do not have a phone number yet, they are required to have one by purchasing a sim card and applying for the grant using that number.
