Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMDs) award full-degree EU-funded scholarships to Master students from around the world covering tuition, travel, and a living allowance. The programmes last from one to two years during which students study in at least two different European countries. Upon graduation, they are awarded a joint or double degree or multiple degrees.

Students can apply to these programmes even if the university where they studied is not involved in any of them. They can see the available programmes in the EMJMD Catalogue and apply directly to the programme coordinator: Click Here

Each programme offers some 15-20 scholarships per year, plus a number of additional scholarships for students from ACP countries.

Institutions from ACP countries can also be part of the consortia that deliver these programmes, as Full Partners, which means they officially award degrees, or as Associated Partners, where they participate in the programme in some kind of capacity, but do not award the actual joint degree.

Of these, 91 were acting as associated partners in 35 of the EMJMDs. Eight ACP universities – from Uganda (2), Burkina Fso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Sudan and Senegal take part as as full partners in six of the projects.

Babette Taute Honours Scholarships 2021

The late Babette Taute left the major part of her estate to establish a bursary trust for students of English at South African universities.

Applicants must be South African citizens or have Permanent Resident status in South Africa.

A number of Honours scholarships of R75 000 each will be available for full time students in a one-year Honours programme.

Students of any branch of English language and literature study, including applied language studies, are eligible for the scholarships.

Awards are made on merit, broadly interpreted. A fine academic record is a requirement for an award. However, the trustees are also interested in other indices of merit. These might include leadership in cultural or social areas, quality of writing and publications, and excellence as a teacher of English or a translator.

Babette Taute Scholarship holders may accept other awards, provided that the total value of awards held does not exceed R120 000. The Babette Taute Scholarship may be reduced in value to bring it in line with this requirement.
